Halloween night: The haunted church

Reluctantly, Sophie agrees to help Jamie find the ghost. After all, it can't be true can it? Sophie knows her mom won't let her leave the house at this time of night. She must decide to, [[Listen to her mother]] || [[Sneak out Sophie's bedroom window ->Sneak out her bedroom window]]

Sophie and Jamie agree it's safer to watch a horror story on tv, rather than create their own! Do they [[Order pizza and fall asleep by 12]] || [[Tell scary stories until the morning]]

Sophie and Jamie continued their halloween tradition, by ordering a large vegeterian pizza and falling asleep soon after.

Sophie and Jamie try their best to scare each other with the best horror story. They do a great job, and they both struggle to fall asleep while it's still dark outside.

As expected, Sophies mother laughs at the idea and makes sure the two girls stay at home for the night. [[Laugh it off and stay at home]]

Sophie and Jamie tip toe upstairs, throw on a dark hoodie and jump out Sophie's bedroom window. The two friends walk briskly towards the abandoned church. Coming towards them they see a beam of light with a figure coming behind. They get closer and see familiar piercing blue eyes, it's their friend from school, Ted. He is eager to join the adventure but the girls aren't sure whether he'll slow them down or add to the fun. Do they [[Let Ted tag along]] || [[Insist it's far too dangerous for Ted]]

So, off Ted, Sophie and Jamie go on their adventure to find the ghost in the abandoned church. Since the girls were young, they had always dreamt of being in a horror story of their own. They were nearly at their arrival point when they saw their elderly neighbour Mrs' O'Neill take a tumble down her front steps. It is nearly midnight and they know that the neighbourhood police will be surveilling the streets on halloween night forcing teenagers back into their homes. They are running out of time but are eager to help their neighbour. Do they [[Help Mrs' O'Neill]] || [[Keep going to the church]] (set:$Ted to true)

The girls refuse Ted's invitation to join the group and continues forward to the [[church->Keep going to the church]] (set: $Ted to false)

They decide to do the right thing and help their neighbour. Once they help her up and ensure she is okay, they try to head back on their quest to find the ghost. Mrs O'Neill is so thankful of the three friends and insists that they come in for a cup of tea. They don't want to be rude but they are keen to get to the church. Once they arrive at the church, they begin to look for a safe way through the overgrown forest. They struggle to get through it and finally arrive at the door of the church, to discover that it is locked with a rusty chain lock. Jamie thought if we had an hammer we could break the lock and explore inside. (if: $Ted )[Ted eagerly offers to go and find a hammer to try to open the doors of the church. what does the group do? The three friends decide to go in for a cup of tea with Mrs O'Neill. Once they leave it is past midnight. They notice the road police and attempt to hide from them. Unfortunately, they are seen. They get questioned by the police and are told to return to their homes. They listen to the police and reluctantly head home, dissapointed. [[Head home]]

The (if:$Ted is true)[group](else:)[girls] stumble through the front door to find Sophie's mother really shocked. "Where have you been Sophie! you're grounded!", she shouted loudly. <span style="font-size: 200%">(font:"Bookman")[(text-style: "bold")[ THE END] ] </span>

(set: $hammer to true)(if:$Ted is true)[While Ted is gone finding a hammer the two girls start exploring the outside of the church. They see a large graveyard filled with gravestones having an eerie atmosphere to it. The girls find this a bit thrilling and continue on with going around the church. The church was built centuries back and now looks worn down with plenty holes around its walls. There are strong winds are gusting around the church which makes few windows bang open and close giving the two a fright.] Continuing on, the girls find a broken window and jumps in. They begin to hear lots of strange sounds, Jamie describes them as teenagers screams, except there are no children around. SUDDENLY, a shadow appears in the distance. The shadow is tall and slender, and looks like it is wearing a hood. The closer they walk to the shadow the louder the noises get. Sophie is a bit scared and asks Jamie if they can head home. But, Jamie would rather continue the adventure. The girls realise they need to stick together Do they, [[run away through graveyard]] || [[keep walking towards the shadow]]

(if: $Ted is true)[They make their way past an old disused shed, inside of which they find a frightened Ted. 'I...I... saw the shadow!', he finally blurts out. Pointing to a place near the back of the church he mutters, 'It went over there!'. They carefully move to the spot and see a door. Do they; (a)[[Push open the door]] (b)[[run away through graveyard]] ] (else:)[Jamie picks up the torch and hears a piercing scream... It's coming from the door at the back of the church. A young man is bound helplessly. When the group reachs back to the top and exits the door, at the entrance of the church, what they see makes their jaws drop... Under the moonlight, shining through a window. A slender figure, neither man or woman, at least 8 foot tall stands before them. It reaches out its hand, and beckons them to come forward with a long, skeletal finger. Oops! It seems as if the girls are making their way back towards the church and it turns out they need to [[Go left]]

The group take a look at the victim. He is petrified! His eyes dart between the girls and a large pile of disused furniture. (if: $Ted is true)[Ted makes tentative moves towards the furniture.] (if: $torch is true)[Sophie hands him the torch.](else:)[Guided solely by the moonlight penetrating the cracks in the wall he tentatively feels his way.] As he gets closer he is suddenly pulled from his feet. (if: $torch is true)[Helplessly he reaches for something to protect himself and manages to get a grip of the torch. Does Ted; (a)[[Try to hit the shadow with the torch]] (b)[[Shine the torch in the shadows face]]] (else:)[ The shadow takes Ted. It moves swiftly up the stairs and disappears into the night. The girls are distraught. If only he had something to fight off the shadow... Do you; (a)return to the [[keep walking towards the shadow]] to try and stop the shadow again. (b)[[run away through graveyard]]]

Sophie tries to reason with Ted to not go out alone to find a hammer because she didnt want anyone to split up and do their own things in this senario. Ted reluctently agrees. Ted then asked what should we do then? Jamie exclaimed that all of us should just explore the outskirts of the church and see if this journey can continue. [[Start exploring as a group]]

(if:$Ted is true)[With everyone exploring the outside of the church. They see a huge graveyard filled with gravestones that brings up an eerie atmosphere to it. Ted and Jamie find this really thrilling while Sophie starts to have second thoughts about this. But anyways everyone continues on with going around the church. ]The church was built centuries back and now looks worn down with plenty holes around its walls. There are strong winds are gusting around the church which makes few windows bang close giving the two a fright. Continuing on when the (if:$Ted is true)[group moves](else:)[girls move] on and reaches behind the church they find a cellar door with no lock on it which looks like it will lead to the basement. (if:$Ted is true)[Ted](else:)[Jamie] goes forward and tries to open the heavy cellar door with pain. With the door open the (if:$Ted is true)[group](else:)[girls] gazes through the entrance to see a completely pitch black basement. (if:$Ted is true)[Suddenly Ted is struck with an idea and starts to rummage through his backpack. The girls stare at him with confusion. After a few seconds Ted pops out a flashlight and says " we can use this to move around in the basement! what do you think?". Sophie and Jamie look at each other surprised, convinced about the idea. but then a loud creaking sound was heard from the basement frighting the three. ]Sophie starts to get more afraid and hides herself behind Jamie with a look of concern. Ted leads the group with a flashlight that he always carried in his backpack while Sophie who started to hug Jamie follow closely behind Ted. As the group slowly inches forward in the basement Ted flashes his light everywhere to see what the surrounding is like. The room can be described to have pillars every 4 meters with piles of rubble and bookshelf all over the place. There is also rays of moonlight coming through the cracks of the walls While looking around the room there were some dusty books that had some indescribable writings in it,the room Ted's flashlight falls upon a paper lying on the floor that has some scribles on it. <p>(if: $knowledge)[Upon reading the contents of the paper, a sense of fear filled Ted while Jamie and Sophie jumped in horror. T](else:)[Suddenly t]hey felt an strong gaze coming from the darkness that felt like it was going to pry their hearts open. At this moment all of them had only one thought in mind and that was definitely to leave this place. The group started to head back to the exit he could see a strong gaze falling on his back and so out of curiousity he turns back with his flashlight to be completely astonished by the creature following them at the same pace behind them. (text-style: "shadow")[Under the torchlight, A slender figure, neither man or woman, at least 8 foot tall follows behind them. It reaches out its hand, and beckons them to come with a long, skeletal finger. ] [[RUN]]

Buwith another smaller shadow that seems to look like Sophie. Knowing that this will be the last time they see sophie again Jamie and Ted take a last glance at what supposedly is Sophie's shadow, they bolt out of the forest entering back to the town. as Ted and Jamie say to everyone that Shopie has been taken by the ghost in the church. They find themselve in a situation taht no one knows who Shopie is and of her family. when the two head to where Shopie's house was supposed to be they find that some other family lives in that house. they then realise that tthe existance of Shopie has been completely wiped out from everyone's mind. Ted and Jamis's parent found them, and started scolding them saying Never go towards the abandonend church. <span style="font-size: 200%">(font:"Bookman")[(text-style: "bold")[ THE END] ] </span>

In complete horror, the group runs as fast as they can towards the exit as they quick pass through all the piles of rubble. The shadow screeches loudly and starts running behind the three in a horrific manner due to the flashlight. As they reach the exit a long skeleton hand grabs on Sophie's feet and pulls on her back into the darkness. Ted and Jamie grabs a hold of Sophie's (if:$knowledge is true)[ [[PULL!->sophie does not get taken]] ] (else:)[ [[PULL!]] ] <audio autoplay> <source src="https://www.dropbox.com/s/ospxan54o2ax603/death-Roman_K-1190383229.mp3?raw=1" type="audio/mpeg"> </audio>

With all his effort Ted swings the torch at the shadow... It passes through, without causing any harm. The shadow lets out a terrifying cackle. Ted is being taken. The shadow moves swiftly up the stairs and disappears into the night. The girls are distraught. If only he had tried a way to disorientate it first Do you; (a)return to the [[check the shadow isn't around first]] to try and find a weapon. The torch beam causes the shadow to drop ted. "It's afraid of the light!". screams Jamie. "keep the beam on the shadow so I can [[help]]!" (set: $Shadow to "blind")

(if: $torch is true)[ Jamie grabs the torch and shines the beam directly where the eyes of the shadow should be. It retreats. They decide that the best way out is to [[run away through graveyard]] ] (else:) [The shadow moves forward, exhibiting incomprehensible strength it plucks both Jamie and the escaped victim with each hand. It then disappears... Leaving Jamie afraid for her friends life. Perhaps it would have been better to get the torch. return to [[keep walking towards the shadow]] to get the torch.]

Hands but fail to keep as hold of her as the shadow seemed to have an absurd strenght. Ted and Jamie screams "NOOOOOOO! SOPHIE!" and see her get dragged into the darkness and as much as Jamie looked around she couldnt find Sophie. Desperatly trying to pull Shopie away from the grasp of the Shadow Jamie remembers the paper that they read about the shadow being weak to light and exclaims to Ted to take out his flashlight and shine it onto the shadow below. Jamie hold onto Shopie tighter trying to hold out just a few more seconds till Ted gets the flashlight out. at this moment Shopie screaming loudly because of the unbearable pain of Jamie pulling her hands and the Shadow pulling on her legs. She flet like she was going to be ripped apart into 2 pieces. Ted finally gets a hold of his flashlight and shine it behind Shopie. a burning noice could be heard with an loud screehing of the shadow letting go of Shopie's legs. Ted carries the unconscious Shopie on his back and walks away quickly as Jamie too was tried from holding onto Shopie. They [[run away through graveyard]]

This piece of paper looks different from all the books and papers they have seen walking through the basement. But the group ignores it and [[continues on.->expressions]] (set:$knowledge to false)

It was a typical Halloween night. The rain had finally subsided, and the distant roar of thunder and flashes of lightening were somewhat comforting. Sophie had invited her bestfriend Jamie over to watch horror movies and order a pizza. Sophie and Jamie had bonded over their love for all things horror, and so it made sense that Halloween was their favourite night of the year! Jamie stormed into Sophie's room. "I've just heard the greatest myth ever!". Jamie explained that her older cousin, who lived out by the rundown church, had discovered it was haunted by a ghost. She wanted to ditch the horror movies and go find out for herself.
